Jack Whyte

  • Sep 25, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Jack Whyte, who left us peacefully on September 21st, 2025, at the age of 83. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jack was a man whose strength, kindness, and work ethic touched the lives of all who knew him.

A proud public servant, he dedicated 38 years of his life as a police officer, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community. His commitment to his work was only surpassed by his dedication to his family. A devoted father of four, he leaves behind children who will forever admire his steadfast character and tireless love. He was also the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and great-grandfather to three, all of whom were blessed to have known his love and guidance.

Married to the love of his life, Lynn (Collings), for almost 58 years, he shared a deep and unwavering bond with his wife that served as an inspiration to all who witnessed it. Together, they built a life full of joy, laughter, and support for each other.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, he was known for his warmth and ability to connect with people. Anyone who knew him would often find themselves engaged in long, heartfelt conversations with him, whether they were old friends or new acquaintances. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was a card game or watching an episode of Coronation Street with his wife, a day out hunting or fishing, working in the garden, spending time in his garage perfecting his woodworking projects, tending to his yard or cottage, or helping a friend, family member, or neighbour with a project of their own; he found joy in the little things and had an appreciation for what was important in life, always taking pride in a job well done and time well spent.

A long-standing member of the Masonic Lodge, Jack was a man who lived his values, dedicated to service, integrity, and brotherhood. His presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and joy, a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Jack is survived by his wife, Lynn; their children, David (Lisa), Jody (Michelle), Jeff (Katherine), Shandel (Mario); siblings, Faye (late Jim) Wilson, Kenny (Arlene), Sandra (late Bob) Boomhour, and Lynn Addae-Whyte; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and in-law, Paul (Sue) Collings. He was preceded in death by his mother (Roberta); father (Arthur); grandson (MacKenzie); along with in-laws, Violet, Claire, and Stephen Collings.

There will be no visitation or funeral service, however, a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date where family and friends will gather to honour his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Percy's Place or Miramichi Physically Disabled, which would be deeply appreciated.

Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, New Brunswick, telephone (506) 773-3492.  Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
