With heartfelt sorrow, the family of Emily Josephine Walls of Blackville, NB, announce her passing on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 91. Born in Blackville, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Della (Urquhart) Walls.
Emily will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Carol Astle of Waterloo, ON; her many nieces and nephews; and several dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Donald, Wilmot, Justus (Sonny), and David; sisters Iva and Mabel; her niece Nancy; and her special friend, Arnold Vickers.
Emily’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to neighbours John and Jackie, Linda Sturgeon, Judy Jardine, Darlene Underhill and Rev. Charlene Maguire-MacKnight, for their kindness, support, and special care.
Throughout her life, Emily was devoted to her family. She played a significant role in the upbringing of her niece and nephew, Nancy and Kenny, alongside their grandfather. She cherished traveling with her nieces Connie, Donna, Pam, and Anna Mae, creating many treasured memories filled with laughter.
Emily will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and generosity. Her work life included working at the Dominion Store, teaching and later, she assisted Dr. McKay’s family in Newcastle, helping with both household tasks and childcare and assisted many other households in the community. She truly loved helping others. In her earlier years, Emily was actively involved in the life and work of St. Andrew’s United Church, a place that always held a special place in her heart.
Her home was always open, offering a place to stay, a warm welcome, and unconditional love to family and friends alike. Emily was truly loved by all who knew her.
As per Emily’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church Cemetery on Monday, September 29th, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Charlene Maguire-MacKnight and Rev. Alicia Walls presiding. A reception will follow in the church hall.
