A Miramichi man was recognized this week for his actions that helped an RCMP during an arrest.  A citizen captured a video in Moncton that showed Doug Matchett, a Corrections Officer in Miramichi, running to the aid of an officer trying to take down a suspect.  Matchett pulled over, jumped from his car, and helped subdue the suspect who was grappling on the ground witht he officer.  The photo was issued by the RCMP with the following message:

Today, Supt. Jolette (right) and Insp. White met Doug Matchett to recognize him for assisting an officer during an incident that occurred in November. He was presented with a Codiac Regional RCMP Officer in charge Certificate of Appreciation! Thank you, Doug!
