Donna (Silliker) Hare, wife of James Hare, passed away peacefully  on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 80. Born in Sillikers, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Gladys (MacTavish) Silliker.

Donna’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by her family.  She found joy in the simple things: a blooming houseplant, a completed puzzle, or a long conversation over a cup of tea.

She had a unique ability to make every child feel like the most important in the room. Whether it was through planning the best birthday parties, a home baked cookie, or a perfectly timed hug, she nurtured her own children, grandkids, great-grandkids, and many in the neighborhood viewed her as a second Mom. 

Her life was defined by her resilience. She faced numerous challenges with a quiet, steady strength that served as an inspiration to everyone who knew her. 

Besides her husband, she is survived by daughter: Sherry Lynn Gould (Ken) of Riverview, NB; son: Rocky Hare (Lisa) of Whitney, NB; sisters: Lena Hosford (Bobby) of Newcastle, NB, Darlene Tozer (Hayward) of Newcastle, NB; grandchildren: Allison Hare (Dylan), Kyle (Laura); great grandchildren: Jett, Tate, Bowen, Calla; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by sisters: Willa Connors, Vera Trevors; brothers: Leon, Coburn, Ronnie, and Berton Silliker.

The family will receive visitors at Jardine Funeral Home on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 11:30am-1pm. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1 o’clock with Pastor Matthew Porter officiating. Interment will be at Miramichi Cemetery later in the spring.
