Yesterday afternoon about 4:30 pm our members along with Miramichi Volunteer Firefighters, responded to a report of a structure fire on North Napan Rd. Crews were met with a deep seated fire in a century old, balloon frame farm house that had been renovated through the generations.
This was further complicated by the owner being unable to call 911 for help due to the telephone and internet outage caused by vandalism/attempted theft of equipment in Miramichi yesterday.
Crews worked for more than 6 hours with many going through 180 to 240 minutes of air conducting the physically grueling work of rooting out and extinguishing a fire in that type of structure and environment.
There were no injuries to occupant or firefighters in this blaze.
Miramichi Police are looking for tips on who was responsible for cutting down a pole near the former Zellers location in order to steal wire.
