The James M Hill Boys AA Soccer team is a three-peat champion!
The tommies defeated cross-twon rivals, the MVHS Pulamoo, in the final in Fredericton this weekend by a score of 2-0.
The teams finished first and second in the northern division to earn spots in the provincials. MVHS beat JMH in a shoot out to win the top seed last weekend, but could not overcome a determined Tommies team when it counted most.
Both teams needed shoot outs to advance to the final with the Tommies outlasting Woodstock, and MVHS getting by Hampton.
MVHS found themselves in an early hole after Emmitt Marsh put a ball through for teammate Richmond who found the back of the net at the 2 minute mark. Then minutes later Tommies forward Abdella found the back of the net with a cross that was also meant for Richmond, but it was misplayed in the wind by the MVHS keeper.
MVHS applied relentless pressure the entire second half with multiple free kicks and corner kicks, but the Tommie keeper, Caden Buckly, was up to the challenge and received the player of the game nod.
This is the third year in a row the Tommies have won the AA title, and the second year in a row they defeated MVHS in the final. The road to AA soccer glory goes through Miramichi.
