With deep love and sadness, the family of Sheila Mary Mercedes Burden (née Jenkins) announces her passing at Percy’s Place on November 10, 2025, at the age of 80. Sheila was surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on May 31, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Sarah (Daigle), father James and step-father, Fred Arsenault.

Beloved wife of Gordon for 61 years, Sheila and Gord built a lifetime of memories together - raising three children, living and travelling across North America, and Europe as an Air Force family.

Sheila will be forever loved and missed by her children: Dawn (Leroy), Chris, and Valerie (Donald); and grandchildren: Ashlee, Daniel (Melissa), Jessica, Brooklyn (Dawson), and Sydney; and great-grandchildren: Mary Jane, Luca, Jude, Aurora, Abbey, and Eden.

She is also survived by her brothers: Blaine (Lil), Floyd (Cathy), and Gary (Cindy); and many cherished nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her mother, Sarah (Daigle); father, James; and step-father, Fred (Arsenault); brothers: Maynard (Lil), and Cyril (Zelia); and sisters: Mareena (Jimmy MacDougall), Macreena, and Gloria.

Sheila worked at The Portage Restaurant where she made lifetime friends; Loomis Armoured Car for many years, in Ontario; and the fish plant in Baie-Sainte-Anne, where she loved the hard work, but especially her co-workers who became family.

Sheila was a true “Busy Bee” who mastered many crafts and adorned her families homes with her artwork. She loved canning and making homemade wine and sharing these things with anyone who walked in her door. Her joyful ways, selflessness, and “dear heart” touched everyone who knew and loved her.

The family extends great thanks to the compassionate staff at Horizon Health, Percy’s Place, and to friends and family for their love and support.

Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, New Brunswick, on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to  6:00 PM, and a funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM from Adams Funeral Home Chapel.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Percy’s Place would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, New Brunswick, telephone (506) 773-3492.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.adamsfh.ca
