Robert (Bob) Masters, aged 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Veteran’s Health Unit in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Bob was born April 18, 1936, to William & Bysie (Harding) Masters in Alliston, Ontario.

At the age of 19, drawn in by the intrigue of worldwide travel & service to his country, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force embarking on a 31-year career during the Cold War as a Weapons Tech Air with the rank of Master Corporal upon his retirement in 1987. He especially enjoyed his postings in Germany & Europe.

While posted in CFB Chatham in the late 1950’s, he met the love of his life, Maureen Doran, at a dance in Newcastle & was instantly smitten with her infectious laugh & zest for life. They married in July 1959 in Newcastle, New Brunswick and had two children Anne in 1960 & Robert in 1963. After many RCAF postings, they settled in the Miramichi area, buying their own home in 1978.

Bob was a very gifted leather craftsman with his intricately carved & hand stitched items such as wallets, purses & belts. This lifelong hobby meant that Bob, Maureen & their children were frequently at local craft sales selling his works of art. So, if you have a handmade leather item in your possession and you live in Miramichi, chances are Bob made it! Bob was always a jester, teasing staff by saying “how much do you owe me?” as he approached the cash. He brightened the days of many with his jokes & laughter.

He was a caring husband to Maureen who suffered ill health in her later years, and his children are eternally grateful for his devotion to her.

He is predeceased by his wife Maureen (2009) and his parents. He is survived by his daughter Anne Masters-Boyne (John) of Fredericton, son Robert William of Miramichi, brother David of Edmonton, Alberta, grandchildren Jonathan Boyne of Fredericton & Sarah Densmore (Matthew) and great grandchildren Maggie & Jack, Flat River PEI.

The family will receive visitors at Jardine Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 11:30 AM-12:45 PM followed by the funeral service at 1PM with Willard Watling officiating.
