The death of Ralph Mitchell, partner of Shannon Simon of Esgenoôpetitj First Nation, occurred on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his residence at the age of 59. Born in Newcastle, NB, he is the son of Elizabeth (Johnson) Mitchell and the late Roger Mitchell. Ralph worked at various jobs over the years including: Logging, Box Net Trap Operator, Lobster fisherman, and Net Mender. Ralph was a happy go lucky fellow, who wore his heart on his sleeve. He enjoyed darts, playing pool, mending fishing nets, he loved the outdoors, especially when he was on the waters.
