Linda Marie (Marney) Ayer of Miramichi, NB passed away on March 18, 2026 at Losier Hall in Miramichi, NB. She was born on January 1, 1945 in Woodstock, NB, a daughter of the late Alden and Geraldine (Stairs) Marney.

From her husband of twenty-five years: “My Linda is a special woman, highly intelligent, humble, painfully shy and mild mannered – a beautiful person. In spite of her shyness, she defended any opinion she held firmly, but only after careful reasoning.

Linda is a nature lover, and until recent years, an active hiker, swimmer and skier. She loved animals, especially her Springer Spaniel, Kate, thoroughly spoiled and living the good life in Calgary.

After leading her high school class academically and graduating in 1962, she obtained her BSc at UNB. Furthering her studies at Wellesley College in Boston and the University of Calgary, she received her Doctorate in Medical Science in 1983. She has several scientific papers to her credit focusing on immunology. Her working life is one of determination and hard work and she is a credit to her family.”
