Barbara Ellen Annie (Murray) Lockerbie, born December 17, 1943, to the late Garfield and Frances (Marquis) Murray, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Percy’s Place, Miramichi, New Brunswick on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025. After years of health challenges, she is now at peace as Our Heavenly Father called her home.
Barb was beautiful, strong and resilient. Never once did she complain about how she was feeling. Even when she was battling health crisis’s she would reaffirm that she was not sick and doing just fine. Her strong faith gave her tenacity to face long health challenges while she prayed for others around her.
Barb was a devout Presbyterian and let her faith guide her in all aspects of her life. She enjoyed going to Bible study, singing in the church choir and as a soloist and hosting countless church clubs with Jim at the cottage. Barb was dedicated to the Ladies Aide Society and thrived on the friendship and fellowship she was part of. She quietly led by example as she welcomed and always included everyone.
After meeting and marrying Jim, Barb took a job at the local radio station CKMR as a secretary. She also worked in retail for Tower Jewels and various other businesses over the years. When Laurie arrived, she became a devoted mother and stayed home to raise both Laurie and Greg until she found a passion that would take her to her late 70s. In 1982, Barb was introduced to Mary Kay Cosmetics and became an Independent Beauty Consultant and then Director. Her career in Mary Kay ignited a passion for making women feel good about themselves and provided friendship and social connections across Canada. Even as her health persuaded her to give up her business at the age of 78, she held dear to the personal connections she made over the years.
Barb will be deeply missed and cherished by her loving husband of 60 years, James (Jim) Lockerbie, her daughter Laurie Tingley (Grant) of Sackville, NB and son Greg Lockerbie (Monica) of Miramichi, grandchildren Steven McCluskey (Lauren), Mary McCluskey (Kyle), Brandon McCluskey and Alex Tingley. She is also survived by her sister Heather Flieger of Miramichi, sisters-in-law Sharon Walsh and Ethel Lockerbie and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Barbara is predeceased by her step-father: Clifford Rimmer.
The family would like to thank her family physician, Dr. Arseneault of Miramichi, the nursing team at the Miramichi Dialysis clinic, and the other countless medical staff over the years that helped Barb live her best life. A special thank you goes out to the staff at Percy’s Place Hospice, who gave her and the family compassion and comfort at the most difficult time.
The family will receive visitors at Jardine Funeral Home, on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
