Robert “Eric” Cameron passed away at Percy’s Place Hospice on October 31st, 2025. Eric was born in Pictou, NS March 30th 1948.He was the son of now deceased parents Robert A and A Jean (MacDonald) Cameron.
Eric is survived by his wife, Barbara (Hierlihy) Cameron; son: Brett (Ann) Cameron, Miramichi; daughter: Keltie (Karl) Cheney, Dartmouth NS; grandchildren: Haden, Nolan, and Maeve Cheney, Tess and Quincy Cameron; brothers: Ian (late Kim), Scarborough England, Bruce (Sandra), Brian (Charlotte) Campbellton, NB and Ewen (Tammy Legacy) Rothesay, NB; sister-in-law: Kathy (Blake) Mullin, Bathurst, NB; late uncle Raymond (Isabel) MacDonald, Oromocto, NB; aunt Jean (late Don) Tremaine, Dartmouth, NS; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special foster son Alcide.
Eric was a high school teacher for 33 years as well as an athlete, coach, and referee/umpire for most of his life, coaching and officiating in nearly 2000 games. Known to Miramichi Valley High School students as “Mr. C”, Eric was often heard to say that he looked forward to every day going to school. He was active in church and community events, a member of the NB Sports Hall of Fame, Campbellton Sports Wall of Fame, and Miramichi Sports Hall of Fame; a recipient of the Queen’s Commemorative Medal - 125th year of Confederation, the NB Community Star award, and named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Newcastle Rotary Club.
Eric gifted his body through being a living organ donor (kidney) and has now also gifted his body to Dalhousie University for medical research.
The family would like to express appreciation for the wonderful care and kindness shown by the medical staff at Miramichi Regional Hospital (Dr. Rigley, ER, 2 West, and ICU) and Percy’s Place Hospice.
Visitation will be at Jardine Funeral home (597 Old King George Hwy, Miramichi NB, E1V 1K3) on November 7th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, and the funeral will be at the Point Church (582 King George Hwy, Miramichi, NB E1V 2M7) on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2 o'clock, followed by a reception. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Tabusintac, NB at a later time.
