Stephen Bradley McLeod

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Bradley McLeod, (the mayor) of South Nelson, NB, occurred on Friday, April 11, 2025, at his late residence at the age of 56. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Frederick “Fred” and Edna (MacDonald) McLeod.

Anyone who knows Stephen knows he was always willing to help out whoever, wherever, whenever. If he had the time, he was there. If he didn’t have the time, he tried his best to make some. Dad was a man of many words, but his actions spoke volumes about his character and the depth of his love for us. He was our rock, our protector, and our greatest champion.

Stephen is survived by daughters: Stephanie McLeod (Brady), Kaitlyn McLeod, Leslie-Ann Sampson; grandchildren: Karsyn, Jaeden, Lynken, Averie; Siblings: Debbie McLaughlan (late Maurice), Stewart McLeod, Diane Swaine (Murray), Karen Sirvet (Jean Claude), Calvin McLeod (Susan), Lorraine Marsland (Perry), Tracy Hallihan (Randy), Jason McLeod. Our bonus mother: Kim. Lisa, mother of Stephanie and Kaitlyn. Rhonda, mother of Leslie-Ann: as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by brother-in-law: Mike Walsh; nephew: Christopher Walsh.

Following Stephens wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at St. James and St. John’s United Church on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 11 o’clock with Rev. Alice Szemok. Burial will take place at Miramichi Cemetery later in the spring.
