The death of Sheldon George Curtis, of Fredericton and formally of Curventon, NB, occurred on Friday, August 8, 2025, at his residence at the age of 82. Born in Curventon, NB he was the son of the late Joseph and Verna (Matchett) Curtis.
Sheldon was an avid fisherman and worked as a guide at the Big Hole Fishing Lodge for over 30 years. Well liked by the ‘sports’ who visited the camp, Sheldon was known for his strong work ethic, hospitality, and jovial attitude. He was an enthusiast for antique vehicles and his prized possession was a vintage 1969 GMC pickup he retained in storage until he could no longer look after it. He would be happy knowing he is being returned to his beloved Miramichi to rest.
Sheldon is survived by daughter: Deanna Collette (Chris) of Fredericton, NB; son: Dean Curtis (Melissa) of Fredericton, NB; mother of his children: Rose Curtis, who remained a critical support in Sheldon’s life through the end; sister: Elsie Corcoran Taylor (late Norman); grandchildren: Madison, Chelsea; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents, he is predeceased by brother: Bernard; sisters: Mina, Evelyn; infant sister June.
Viewing to be held Saturday, August 23rd 12:00-3:00 at Jardine Funeral Home with burial to be conducted thereafter at St. James Church.
