t is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sheila Irene Allison, age 75, at Northumberland Hall in Amherst.
Born in Newcastle New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late William and Elva (Silliker) Allison.
After graduating from North and South Esk High School in the Miramichi, Sheila attended UNB Teachers College in Fredericton and her teaching career led her to many positions in Bathurst, Dalhousie, Campbellton, Newcastle and Listigouche. She loved teaching and many of her students have spoken of the positive influence Sheila had on their lives. She remembered her students fondly, speaking of them often by name, and hoped they were living full and successful lives. Even in retirement, she commented often that she would go back to teaching tomorrow if she could.
When not teaching or helping her students, Sheila always kept busy. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, crocheting, knitting, cross stitch and smocking to name a few. Her hands were never idle, and even as a passenger on long car rides, she had a bag of knitting or crocheting and many projects on the go. In retirement, Sheila did a lot of quilting and was an active member of Victoria Quilters in Amherst, making many friends there along the way.
Sheila loved the Lord and was actively involved in the ministry most of her life. She ministered to members of the congregation, taught Sunday School, lead worship services and was a Principal and teacher in a Christian School.
Sheila loved music and square dancing. After moving to Amherst, she joined the Cumberland Twirlers and made many friends there.
Sheila spent many years on the North Shore of New Brunswick and moved to Amherst in 2014 to be closer to her daughter Alyson (Anthony) Fromm, Brookdale and her granddaughters, Julie and Kaitlyn. Sheila will be sadly missed by her daughter Alyson (Anthony) Fromm, and granddaughters, Julie and Kaitlyn, her daughter Jennifer (John) Noseworthy and grandson, James, Corner Brook, NL, her brother, Darren (Wendy) Allison, Sunny Corner, NB, and sisters, Myrna (Gary) Allison, Castlegar, BC, Vanda (John) Harrison, Saint John, NB and Ginny (Eugene) Somers, Miramichi, NB. Sheila will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Sheila was very proud of her grandchildren and loved them dearly.
Besides her parents, Sheila was predeceased by her brother, Brian and sister, Heather Robinson.
