It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden death of Roy Thomas Ward, of Metepenagiag, NB, husband of Madeline Ward, which occurred on Monday, May 12th, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary (Isaac) Ward. 

Besides his wife, Madeline, Roy is survived by; four daughters: Tobi Ward-Levi (Robert Preston Levi), Sue Ann Ward (Jonathan Brown), Claudette Ward-Després (Joel Despres), and Bernadette Ward all of Red Bank, NB; one brother: Burton (Mary Ann) of Red Bank, NB; two grandsons: Darian and Owen; one granddaughter: Evaelle; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is also survived by his favourite Uncle: Joseph Brennan Isaac from Florida.

Besides his parents, Roy is predeceased by his son: Todd (Big Tex) Ward; his brothers: Ronald, Donald, Everett Ward; sisters: Frances Peter-Paul and Bernadette Cloud. 

Roy was a member of the Metepenagiag Mi’kmaq Nation where he resided. He was the proud organizer of the Annual Metepenagiag “BIG TEX” Trout Derby for the last 35 years along with a dedicated team. He was instrumental in securing prizes for the event and worked tirelessly with sponsors of the Derby. Roy also served as Band Councilor for the Metepenagiag Mi’kmaq Nation for several years prior to managing the fisheries department. He was a funny, dedicated, hardworking man with strong work ethic and he transferred his skills to his employees who he supervised seasonally. In his spare time, he loved to buy and trade cars. This was his specialtyand could give you the specs on any luxury vehicle. He worked in partnership with many dealerships such as Towne Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota in the Miramichi area over the years. He formed lasting friendships with everyone he knew. He was loved and respected for his smooth kind nature and ability to seal the deal. 

The family will receive visitors at Madeline’s residence, 60 Shore Road, Metepenagiag, NB, starting Monday, May 19th, 2025, after 7pm and then again on Tuesday, May 20. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, at 11 o’clock with Father Peter Igwe officiating. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
