Peter Wendell Curtis of Fredericton passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones, including his cat Zoe, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle against PSP – Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Born in Newcastle on April 1, 1951, he was the son of the late Byron and Ella (Mountain) Curtis.
Peter is best remembered as a bartender at the River Room of The Lord Beaverbrook Hotel, and later at the Fredericton Inn and Shannex. Peter loved his music and played in several bands over the years. He especially enjoyed his family trips to Europe and the many Caribbean Islands with his mother and sisters. Nothing made Peter happier than raising his children, loving his pets, and being with family and friends.
Peter is survived by his daughter Ashley and son Justin, his sisters Patricia and her husband Brian, and Nancy and her husband Bob, his nephew Andrew, nieces Kathryn (Bennie) and Erin, and grandniece Lillian, and several cousins.
Special thanks to Lenny Mabee for his dedication and support, along with his support workers Theresa, Fong, and Renee enabling Peter to live at home. Also, many thanks to those who visited him regularly.
A graveside burial will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Blackville, NB, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Hall.
In memory of Peter, donations may be made to PSP Research (http://www.uhn.ca/Krembil/Rossy-PSP-Centre)
