The death of Mary Georgina Joe of Esgenoôpetitj, NB occurred on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the age of 65. Born in Chatham, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Sarah (Francis) Joe. Georgina retired from the Esgenoôpetitj First Nation Band Office where she worked for 40 years and enjoyed playing bingo and helping people.

Georgina is survived by daughter: Marcia Joe (Dennis Dedam); son: Justin Joe; grandchildren: Collin Joe, Ross Joe, Peyton Joe and Connelly Joe; great grandchild: Zaylen Bonnell; siblings: Willard Joe, Gilbert Joe, Harvey Joe, Melvin Joe, Jeffrey Joe, Doreen Comeau (Ronald Comeau), Darlene Augustine (Donald Barnaby) and Freda Cloud.

Besides her parents, Georgina is predeceased by siblings: Marlene Joe, Juanita Joe and Derry Joe.

The family will receive visitors at her home 18 Wabenaki Road, Esgenoôpetitj, NB on Saturday, January 4, 2025, after 7 PM and again on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Esgenoôpetitj, NB on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11 AM with Father Cornelius Ngurukwem officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery later in the spring.
