Marion Genevieve (Savage) Arseneault, wife of the late Dick (James Weldon) Arseneault of Miramichi, NB, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the remarkable age of 105. Born in Bartibog Bridge, NB, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Mahoney) Savage.
Marion served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II before beginning her career as a Court Stenographer. A woman of immense strength and resilience, Marion faced life’s challenges with unwavering determination. She was admired for her kindness, grace, and the ability to bring people together. Her home was a place of warmth, where everyone was welcomed with a cup of tea and a home-cooked meal, and her legendary cooking created cherished memories for all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Cathy Arseneault (Robert Drisdelle) and Richard Arseneault, both of Miramichi, NB; her son-in-law Jeff Hubbard of Alabama, USA; granddaughters Lauren Drisdelle and Isabel Hubbard; and sisters-in-law Gladys Savage, Bernice Savage, and Rhoda Savage. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, Marion was predeceased by her husband, daughter Monica Arseneault Hubbard, parents, and siblings Ruby Johnston (Lee), Katherine Tozer (Donald), Lillian Hill (Bill), Edna McIntyre (John), Byron Savage (Marie), Percy Savage, William Savage, Robert Savage, Joseph Savage (Flo), Donald Savage, and Lawrence Savage (Margaret).
Marion’s strength and compassion left an indelible mark on her family, friends, and community. She lived her 105 years with purpose, devotion, and love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that will forever be remembered.
The family will receive visitors at Jardine Funeral Home on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 2–4 and 6–9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11 AM with Father Cornelius Ngurukwem officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
