We Remember LOIS (McEvoy) HARE

Lois Mary (McEvoy) Hare wife of the late Joseph Sterling “Sonny” Hare, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 74.

Born in Chatham, NB, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Cora (Burns) McEvoy.

Lois is survived by her daughter: Tracey Rabbe (late Chris Aquart) of Calgary, AB; sister: Faye Smith of Ottawa, ON; brother: Ted McEvoy (Carol) of Ottawa, ON; granddaughter: Siarra Rabbe, niece and nephews: Amy McEvoy, Jim McEvoy, Christopher Smith and Michael Smith.

Lois spent her childhood in Blackville. When she was a teenager, the family moved to Ottawa where she attended high school and college, met lifelong friends and her first true love.

At age 30, Lois moved back to the Miramichi where she soon found her life partner and soulmate. They opened and operated the Halfway Inn together for many years before retiring to her beloved Blackville.

Lois will be remembered for her broad- minded approach to life, quick wit, sense of style and benevolent spirit.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Miramichi Regional hospital, much love and thanks to Jennifer Jackson and special thanks and eternal gratitude to Marsha Duffy, an absolute angel on earth.

At Lois’ request there will be no service or visitation. A celebration of life luncheon will be held at a later date.

The family appreciates your support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family will be graciously accepted.
