It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Lorne Reid, of Miramichi, New Brunswick, who died at 80 years old on March 12, 2025, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

By his side was his beloved wife, Dolores (Daley), and his step-sons, Joey (Donna), and Bart (Monique), as well as his step-granddaughter, Morgan (Kian). His step-grandson, Carter (Jasper) from Ottawa, though unable to be there in person, remained close in heart.

Lorne cherished Dolores’ immediate family and their partners: Dean, Tommy, Edward (Noonie), Theresa, Edna, Reginald, Marilyn, Carmel, and Patricia. He was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Phillis (Mitchell) Reid, and his first wife, Eileen (Cashman).

Lorne was born in Neepawa, Manitoba, on June 28, 1944, and grew up in Moncton, New Brunswick. He worked at Nortel in many different roles and capacities, mainly within the Information Technology Department.

Lorne loved anything electronic, and he was quite skilled in creating his own personal computer programming. He had a true passion for cooking and enjoyed sharing his many dishes with family and friends. He also enjoyed dining out, and he was a welcomed familiar face at many restaurants throughout the Miramichi area.

He will be dearly missed by Dolores’ family, who were quick to embrace Lorne due to his kind, quiet, and giving nature. He loved them as they did him. He will always be remembered for his love of life, and wonderful sense of humour, and his infectious laugh. His wit and positivity made him a joy to be around.

In honoring Lorne’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
