Harvey Allen Matchett, of Parkland Retirement, and formally of South Nelson, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Percy’s Place at the age of 85. Born in the parish of Hughes, now known as South Nelson, NB, he was one of ten children of George and Sarah (Sherrard) Matchett.

Harvey worked for Air Canada, which allowed him to have a life full of traveling. His love for golf and curling also took him to many places around the world. He had so many stories from the places he had been, but his home was South Nelson, where he found comfort on a park bench by the river. He had a great love for animals, especially dogs where Finnigan and Charlie were his best friends.

Harvey is survived by one brother: Hiram (Beatrice) of Winchester, ON; as well as many nieces and nephews, who he visited from time to time.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by brothers: Courtney (late Ruby), Everett (late Theresa), Lionel (late Joan), Sammy (late Lily); sisters: Irene, Reta (late Albert), Clara (late Warren), Lola (late Blair).

 Following Harvey’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at St. James United Cemetery, later in the spring.
