Ethel Isabel Chaulk of Charlottetown, Newfoundland, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on March 15, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born in Charlottetown, Newfoundland, on October 29, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Annie (Drover) Ford.  She was a Homemaker and a member of Emmanuel United Church.  She enjoyed being a member of the Salvation Army Ladies Home League.

Ethel went by many names: Mom, Ma, Gram, Grams, Big Gram, and Aunt Yay to just name a few. She spent most of her life in Charlottetown, Newfoundland, but loved to travel and spend time with her Family in New Brunswick and Alberta. Her Family was everything to her and she always made sure to let them know by her nightly text messages. She loved to knit and crochet, and share her creations with everyone. Her mitts, dishcloths and hand towels were signature items in not only her family and friends homes, but also in the homes of random people she just met. Nobody left empty handed after a visit to her home. She also loved watching hockey with her family. She would never tell anyone, but the Ottawa Senators always had a soft spot in her heart. She could never hide her excitement when they won.

Ethel is survived by her daughter, Pauline Nelson (Gordon) of Miramichi, New Brunswick; son-in-law, Fred Nicholl of Alberta; six grandchildren: Bobby (Ashley), Danny (Paige), Kenny (Elaine), Calvin (Jason), Michael, and Meaghan; three great-grandchildren: Grayson, Abigail, and Wyatt; one sister, Emma Abbott of Newfoundland; as well many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Ledwell Chaulk, daughter, Myrtle, two sisters: Josie and Anne, and three brothers: William, Boyd, and Hedley.

As per Ethel’s wishes, there will be no visitation or no funeral service. A memorial service and interment will be held in Charlottetown, Newfoundland, later this summer.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Emmanuel United Church Charlottetown, Newfoundland, or the Salvation Army Home League Charlottetown, Newfoundland would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, New Brunswick, telephone (506) 773-3492.  Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
