Ellen Mary (McLenaghan) Williston of Miramichi, NB, passed away at Percy’s Place surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at the age of 96.

Born in Auburnville, NB, on March 16, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabel (Williston) McLenaghan.  She attended Pentecostals of Miramichi when she was able.

Ellen is survived by four daughters: Joan Carter (late Edward), Eileen Carter (Warren) and Donna Henry (late Gary) all of Miramichi, NB and Doris Drost (Leslie) of Upham, NB; two sons: Benny Williston (Joan) and Blair Williston (Angie) all of Miramichi, NB; eighteen grandchildren, thirty five great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She is the last surviving member of her family.  She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Emerson Williston, two sons-in-law: Gary and Edward, sisters: Ada and Mildred; brothers: Freeman, Norman, Bernard, Phineas, Reuben, Burton, Alvin and William.

Ellen had a passion for working with her hands, whether it was woodworking, knitting, tending to her garden, or preparing delicious meals. She cherished spending quality time with her family, often embarking on memorable road trips to destinations like PEI, Florida, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and California.

Visitation will be held at the Pentecostals of Miramichi, 146 King St., Miramichi on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 12 pm – 2 pm with the funeral service to follow at 2 pm with Pastor Peter Long officiating.  Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery later in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Percy’s Place or Pentecostals of Miramichi Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.
