It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dolores Marie Gorman Hawkins, aged 71, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Miramichi Regional Hospital.

Born on July 6, 1953, in the picturesque town of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Dolores began her life in a place as charming as her spirit. A gifted hairdresser for approximately 40 years, she brought beauty and joy to her clients. She was the proud owner and entrepreneur of Sophisticuts, her beloved salon in Fredericton, where her creativity and passion shone brightly. Known for her remarkable ability to transform spaces, Dolores could turn an old barn into a breathtaking masterpiece, creating beauty wherever she went. Her green thumb was extraordinary, as she cultivated stunning indoor and outdoor floral spaces. One of her cherished projects was transforming an area by a brook near her grandparents’ homestead into a nostalgic, serene sitting area—a testament to her vision and love for beauty and family.

Dolores had a flair for style and always presented herself with elegance. Though she had no biological children, her heart was vast, embracing her cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nephew as her own. Her kindness, warmth, and dedication to her family created lasting memories and deep connections. She is survived by her beloved sister, Doreen Somers (Wayne); two “sisters by default” (in Dolores’s words), Charlene MacIsaac and Susan Giberson, along with their father, Dolores’s uncle, Yerxa Somers; nieces, Micheline Stewart, Krista MacLean, and Mia Losier; nephews, Patrick Losier and Matthew Mitchell; step-sons, Alex Hawkins (Gisele) and Josh Hawkins; step-grandson, Tru Hawkins; and her extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families, all of whom she cherished deeply.

Dolores was predeceased by her parents, Norman Percy, Eunice (MacKnight) Taylor, and Warnie Taylor; and her husbands, Patrick Gorman (1995) and Mark Hawkins (2017); and special aunt, Lois Somers (1984).

Per Dolores’s wishes, arrangements will be handled privately.  Those wishing to celebrate Dolores’s life are invited to share a memory with the family, perform a kind act in her honor, or make a donation in her memory to Percy’s Place, a cause close to her and her family’s hearts.

Dolores’s legacy of creativity, love, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, New Brunswick, telephone (506) 773-3492. Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
