Carol Charmaine (Parker) Robinson

It is with profound sadness that the family of Carol Charmaine (Parker) Robinson of Doaktown, NB, announces her passing on July 31, 2025 at the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home at the age of 91. Carol was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the epitome of the family matriarch, the glue that held us all together. Known affectionately as “Nan Rob” to the entire community. She could brighten your day simply with a smile or a homemade treat.

Born August 9, 1933, in Carroll’s Crossing, NB, Carol was the daughter of the late Murdock and Violet Francis (Lyons) Parker. In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband, Isaac Robinson whom she loved for 63 years, her infant son, Purney Wayne and her two brothers, Benson and Franklin Parker.

Carol is survived by her children: Brent (Bonnie) of Doaktown, NB and Mark (Linda) of Fort McMurray, AB; six grandchildren: Derrick, Heidi (Brandon), Lacey (David), Samantha (Matt), Mackenzie and Kaiden and several great grandchildren.

Carol lived a long and happy life and was a caretaker by nature. Whether it was looking after sick grandchild, making food for a community event or simply entertaining a visitor on the front porch, Carol could always be counted on as a source of support. Later in life, Carol had the privilege of having the kindness she always extended to others reciprocated from the exceptional care she received from her two wonderful caregivers, Rhoda Lyons and Tracey Foster.

Carol first job was with the telephone company, answering calls on the “party line”. She was privy to many conversations, some with confidential information and she held those secrets and stories for most of her life. Carol also worked alongside her husband Isaac and later in life, their sons, Brent and Mark, at the original Doaktown Irving. She was the face of the convenience store and service station; greeting customers and running the storefront. She also ran things behind the scenes; booking appointments, ordering supplies and ensuring customers' accounts were settled. When Carol no longer worked outside the home, she continued to prepare meals and bake treats for her loved ones, neighbours and community members. One of Carol’s favourite pastimes was preparing a meal. If you happened to stop in for visit, it was best to come hungry because the first question Carol would ask was “are you hungry, do you want something to eat?” She had several meals and/or baked goods that were famous to the residents of Doaktown, especially her homemade pizza, potato salad, homemade stew with dough boys, mozza fries, dressing for turkey dinner, biscuits and scotch cookies just to name a few. The best part about Carol’s cooking might have been that she never used a recipe and whenever she tried to teach someone how to make one her signature dishes, it was often not able to be duplicated as Carol’s best advice was not about ingredients or measurements but about the “feel”. When Carol was not in the kitchen, she could often be found either in her rocking chair in the living room or her swing on the front porch. The only thing that would improve a rocking session would be to have a baby to rock, Nan loved her babies.

At the request of the family there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Doaktown, NB on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 4:30 PM with Father Neil Osiowy officiating. Burial will follow in the United Baptist Cemetery, Doaktown, NB. Pallbearers are: Peter Robinson, Kirk Lyons, David Clowater, Brandon Dobbelsteyn, Landon Tobin and Chris Storey.

In Carol’s memory, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home, or simply share a meal with someone you love, just as Carol would have wanted. Messages of condolence can be sent through the funeral home website: www.miramichifunerals.ca
