We Remember WILLIAM (Bill) UNDERHILL

With great sadness that we announce the death of William “Bill” Murray Underhill special friend and partner of Phyllis (Harding) Innes of Miramichi, NB occurred on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the age of 80.

Bill was the son of the late Murray “Chubb” and Geraldine (Vickers) Underhill.

Bill retired from REPAP in 2000 where he began his career working as a Pipefitter and then as a Maintenance Planner. He was a member of the Anglican Church, Miramichi Golf & Country Club and former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 10 and the Newcastle Curling Club.

Besides Phyllis, Bill is survived by his children: Terri Allison (Jody) of Tantallon, NS; Todd Underhill (Kelly) of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren: Austen and Olivia Underhill, Evan, Anna and Nathan Allison as well as the mother of his children: Ruth (Curtis) McElman.

Bill loved his sports. In his early years hockey was what Bill knew best, playing on several teams including his Blackville Aces. Once starting a family of his own he coached and managed many hockey and baseball teams of his son, Todd, with several proud moments including attending the 1989 Canada Games for baseball. He also enjoyed cheering his daughter Terri while she played and competed in Ringette. It wasn’t a Saturday night without watching his Maple Leafs, with his closest friends, some has far back as childhood, in “Bill’s Barn”. There are many tales from those nights in the barn (eh Neil ?). After retiring, Bill fell in love with golf and it became his daily routine from May to October. He always documented his 100 + games in a season and was very proud of his two hole in ones! He cherished those days with his golf buddies and a lot of memories were made with them. Bill was also a very proud grandfather of his five grandchildren and loved watching them participate in all their sports and activities.

At Bill’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service.

A graveside service will be held from Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Blackville, NB in the spring.

In Bill’s memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
