The death of Austin John Johnston, spouse of the late Sheila Thibodeau of Miramichi, New Brunswick, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, Miramichi, New Brunswick, on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of 66.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on April 9,1958, Austin John Johnston was the son of the late Lloyd and Connie (Bowie) Johnston.

Austin is survived by son, Melvin Thibodeau of British Colombia; step-son, Ricky Thibodeau (Audrey) of Rexton, New Brunswick; step-daughter, Susan Bourque (Maurice) of Miramichi, New Brunswick; brothers:  Blake Johnston, and Ian Johnston, both of Miramichi, New Brunswick; sisters:  Isabel Carroll (Danny), Cathy DeLong (Walter), and Ruth MacDonald (Wade), all of Miramichi, New Brunswick; grandchildren:  Jocelyn, Joseph, and Zachary; as well as great-grandchildren:  Taleah, and Everly.  Austin was predeceased by his parents, and spouse, Sheila.

By request of the family, there will be no visitation.  A Celebration of Life will be celebrated, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 11 AM, at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3,18 McCurdy St., Miramichi, New Brunswick.  Interment will take place at a later date in St. Margaret’s Cemetery, St. Margaret’s, New Brunswick. 

As expressions of sympathy, donations in Austin’s memory, to The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
