Robert “Bobby” Gilliss MacFarlane of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at Shannex-Bridgeview Hall, Miramichi, New Brunswick, on February 8, 2025, at the age of 76.

Born in Chatham, NB, on November 2, 1948, Robert Gilliss MacFarlane was the son of the late John and Catherine (Gilliss) MacFarlane.

Bobby was happiest with people. He always loved a crowd around. Sitting with Bobby when you were feeling down made all your worries fade away. He loved to be playfully tormented and equally enjoyed being the tormentor. He was always smiling, loved to laugh, and never complained. He touched many people with his life. We lost a special man and may he rest in peace.  Our Bobby was so kind and positive and full of love and laughter.  He was an angel on earth and now he walks and talks with our good Lord.  Heaven gained another angel.  We love you Bobby and will miss you.  God Bless! Bobby was also an adherent of both St. Mark’s United Church, and St. Andrew’s United Church.

Bobby is lovingly remembered by his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Carol Ann MacFarlane, who fondly cared for him in their home for 26 years. Bobby is also survived by special nephews, who were like brothers, Stephen MacFarlane, and Scott MacFarlane. Besides his parents, Bobby is predeceased by his sister, Margaret Flewelling, and brothers:  Gordon MacFarlane, John MacFarlane, Fred MacFarlane, and Donald MacFarlane.

The family would like to offer a very special “Thank You” to the staff at Shannex-Bridgeview Hall.  Bobby called Bridgeview Hall his “home,” and the family is incredibly grateful for the care Bobby received there. Thank You!

By request of the family, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi, New Brunswick at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in Bobby’s memory to Miramichi Accessible Transit, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, NB, telephone (506) 773-3492. Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
