The death of Mary “Rita” (Manuel) Russell, wife of Edison Russell of Miramichi, NB, occurred on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 80. Born in Chatham, NB, she was the daughter of the late Jimmy and Theresa (Arsenault) Manuel.

Rita was an artist, she loved to paint, draw, quilt and make crafts, she was continually creating. She was a member of St. Samuel’s Roman Catholic Church and member of their choir for 50 years. She also was a member of the art club, senior citizens club, and loved to play cards.

Besides her husband Rita is survived by daughter: Andrea “Missy” Savoy (Rick) of Douglastown, NB; son: Brad Russell of Chatham, NB; grandson: Logan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by son: Kirk Russell; siblings; Felix, Ronnie, Bobet, Del, Merina.

The family will receive visitors at the St. Samuel’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 12-1pm. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Samuels Roman Catholic Church at 2 o’clock with Fr. John Fraser officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
