Marjorie “Sassy” Walls

  • May 27, 2025

With grieving hearts and precious memories, we share the passing of our dear Marjorie (Sassy) Wilhelmina Walls, at Region 7 Hospital, on May 25, 2025, at the age of 71. She was the loving and devoted wife of Daniel Walls of Blackville. Born on September 6, 1953, in Gray Rapids, NB, she was the daughter of the late Millet and Beatrice (Kennedy) Underhill. She was a devoted member of Miramichi Valley Church, attending weekly prayer meetings and singing in the church choir, for many years.

Sassy, as she was referred to by most, was a woman who gave of herself in every circumstance. If she was able to help, in any way, she would. A servant, a confidant, a friend and a caregiver, Sassy was the one you could go to..  anytime, anywhere. A loving and dedicated wife, mother, mother-in- law, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, she will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Sassy had many jobs over the years, working at the Blackville School cafeteria, the Blackville Irving, Trio Pizza, and the Miramichi Renous Club. While being a dedicated worker, she especially enjoyed the lasting friendships, and many memories made during her various positions. She will definitely be remembered for her fine cooking and baking, both at work and at home. Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving dinners will not quite be the same.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Walls, her children Lori Ann (Craig) Curtis, Kendall (Rachael) Walls, April (Philip) Merritt and A.J. (Janna) Underhill, her grandchildren Caitie, Emily, Cole, Amber, Hunter, Lauren, and Keaton, and her one great grandchild, Taryn. She is also survived by sisters, Marilyn (Sherman) Nash, Lois (late David) Newman and Glenda (Rick Harris) Underhill, brothers, Richard (late Martha) Underhill, Allan (Faye) Underhill and Glenn Underhill, and sisters-in-law, Lillian (late Tom) Brennan, Helen (late Morris) Chown, Wanetta (late Malcolm) Walls, and Lydia (late Terrance) Underhill. Sassy was loved by her many nieces and nephews, and her 3 special little people, William, David and Sutton.  Sassy was also looking forward to meeting her new baby granddaughter in October, and she will be deeply missed by “dad’s dog”, Rudy.

She was predeceased by brothers, Allison Underhill, and William Underhill, sister, Roseen (late Merritt) Moody, and brother and sister-in-law, Ellery and Peggy Underhill.

The family will receive visitors at Jardine Funeral Home on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Jardine Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11 AM with Pastor Dave Storey officiating. Burial will follow in the Underhill Baptist Cemetery, Blackville, NB.
