The death of Margaret “Emily” (Underhill) Somers, wife of the late Lawrence Somers of Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home and formerly of Red Bank, NB, occurred at the Miramichi Hospital on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Marguerite (Gilliss) Underhill. Emily was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and reading especially to her grandchildren. She was also a devoted and faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, NB.

Emily is survived by her children: Eugene Somers (Ginny) of Cassilis, NB; Lawrence “Larry” Somers Jr. of Red Bank, NB; Tanya Somers of Miramichi, NB; sisters: Anne MacDonald (late John) of Miramichi, NB; Patsy Gallant (late Fred) of Red Bank, NB; grandchildren: Brian Somers (Taelin), Matthew Goodfellow (Jasmine), Warren Somers (Jamie), Patrick Somers (Stephanie), Avery Lavoie (Jessica), Anjie Frenette (Alex); as well as great grandchildren: Alvin, Isaac, Isen and Steven.

Besides her parents and husband, Emily is predeceased by son: Wayne Somers; brother: Gerald Underhill (Edna) and nephew: Joshua Gallant.

At Emily’s request there will be a private service only. Burial will take place in St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, later in the spring.
