Arthur “Arty” Keith Sanford, of Weldfield-Collette Road, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully while working in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the age of 50.
Born in Chatham, he was the son of the late Gloria Sanford and grandson of Vera Sanford and the late Keith Sanford. Arty had a very close bond with his grandfather Keith, who was like a father figure to him throughout his life. He is survived by his beloved son, Preston Sanford Mullen; his brother, Christopher Sanford; sister, Ashley Sanford; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his best friend, Scotty Johnstone.
Arty loved sports. He played baseball for the Napan Braves and the Chatham Ironmen, and later volunteered his time as a coach. Above all, he cherished time with his son Preston, cheering him on in sports and was incredibly proud of him. Arty also had a special place in his heart for his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, with whom he loved to spend time and jokingly tease.
At the family’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery.
In Arty’s memory, as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Riverside Cemetery or to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation. Messages of condolence can be sent through the funeral home website: www.miramichifunerals.ca
