Enjoying your regular posts on MO. Your latest post ‘Notes From Away’ is a great way for displaced Miramichiers to keep up with news from home. It also made me laugh. The term ‘from away’ is a real ‘Miramichism’. Anyone who was not born and raised in a place where the Miramichi ran through, around, or just outside it is ‘from away’. I was born and raised in the area, but my parents moved here from Southern part of NB almost 60 years ago. Should qualify as Miramichiers, but alas, they’re ‘from away.’LOL Truth be told, my parents fell in love with the river all those years ago, and truly are Miramichiers. They chose to make it their home all those years ago and have never looked back.

I was a “CFA (come from away)” Miramichier from June 2007 to Sept. 2010 and during that short time, I became a lover of the people and the spirit of the river. I moved to Miramichi from the beautiful Georgian Bay cottage country area of Parry Sound, Ontario and now live in Sackville, NB. The folk whom I had the privilege of connecting with in The Chi are very special people and have put a mark on my life that I will always treasure and I am a better person because of them. In fact, we just got back from a day in The Chi and it was so great to check in on Sara at King George B & B….what a great place for people to visit The Chi and experience Sara & John’s hospitality and what a great business for Miramichi to have because King George B & B and What’s Cookin’ Miramichi certainly add a flair of creative adventure and experiences to the palate of Miramichi’s places to stay and eat and enjoy in so many unique and creative ways. Also got to enjoy a “How Chi doin’ Gourmet Burger” at Miramichi’s new eatery down on the Newcastle square…it was a delightful experience inside their restaurant from the moment I entered the doors with their greeting that they holler out as you come through the door to the tasty burger with sweet potato fries. Neat, refreshing burger place experience in contrast to the forever run of the mill hohum chain burger choices we have everywhere else! Anyway, MO))) keep sharing Miramichi with those of us who are “gone away” and we will enjoy your offering to us.

As a Miramichier born and raised, I love the river with all my heart. I moved to Toronto in 2008 and have since found success as an actor, having graduated from the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts. As much as I love Toronto, Miramichi will always be home, and will always be where my heart is. I’m visiting for two weeks starting August 3rd. I can’t wait to spend some time on the river. It’s been too long.

My Husband and I are both Miramichiers, now living in Brasil, South America. Stumbled upon your website, when we were trying to find news from Home. Check on regularly now, and wanted to say we appreciate the connection to the Miramichi. We miss family and friends of course, but truly Miss the River, …. but not the cold.
Keep up the great work!

Just stumbled on this site today (Aug 04) and am wondering if “Chopper” is the same Chopper who used to do the Giver on the River videos, which I enjoyed immensely but haven’t seen for quite some time. If you are the same guy, thanks very much for all of the Giver videos and will they be coming back?
Chopper

I miss Miramichi! I’m a Miramichier born & bred. I married an Aussie and decided to move to Australia. I’ve been in Adelaide for over 7 years and I miss home as much today as I did the day I left. Australia is a beautiful country and the Aussies have made me feel at home here. I hope to get home some time & let my kids see snow. They always ask me what the snow is like! They can’t imagine anything but a hot Chritmas!
Take care and thanks for a great website. Makes me feel closer to home.

Great site Chopper. I’m a Miramichier too and miss family. I’m one of the Carroll Clan. I usually come home every summer, this is the first one I haven’t in a long time. I’ve been gone longer than I’ve there now. My husband John and I live in Courtenay BC now and love it here, but there’s no place like home!! Miramichi will always be home to me, no matter how often I’m reminded, home is where I’m at!! lol Keep up the great work, enjoy all your video’s.
Chopper
Thanks for the well wishes Eileen, and the positive comments. Hope you get back home soon, I am sure the river misses you just as much as you miss her! Giv’er!

Recently we visited our daughter and family who live in Miramichi, New Brunswick. While there I needed some medical supplies because of a back problem. My daughter looked in the telephone book and found Mirimachi Medical Supplies Ltd. We went there and found what we required and more. The owner, Barbara McLaughin was extremely helpful. It was a pleasure to deal with her. I hope that all residents, of Miramichi who might benefit from her expertise know about the store.
We found the people of Miramichi polite, helpful and pleasant.
