Fishermen’s Pow Wow June 30-July 1st in Miramichi

AFN Regional Chief Roger Augustine is pleased to announce the upcoming Fishermen’s Pow Wow on June 30-July 1, 2012. This event will be held at the Waterford Green Park, in the city of Miramichi, NB and will showcase the diverse and rich cultures of this dynamic city. A celebration of all cultures and bringing people together, this unique and inspiring event is proudly sponsored by the Province of New Brunswick, Metepenagiag Mi’kmaq Nation, Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada, Maritime Fishermen’s Union, and Societe Nationale de l’Acadie.

    While I think this is a good thing, if the Acaidiens are being represented so should the Anlgo’s.

      ok??? You lost me on this one……How are the “Anglos” being represented at a Pow Wow?

      There’s an Acadian day granted, but there is also an Irish Festival (more than a day) and Scottich Fesival.

        This is an aboriginal initiative, they invited all cultures to have activities to represent themselves, it will be a wonderful event! Hope to see you there!

    Sounds like it will be a great event but sad to hear that the sponsoring community Metepenagiag First Nations did not ask there own historical interpretation center Metepenagiag Heritage Park to be present for this event.

    Thank you to the sponsors of this event for bringing a Pow Wow to the Chatham Waterfront. The tee-pees look so beautiful there…looking forward to the Sunrise Ceremony tomorrow morning and to the Feast @ 3:00 pm.
