FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government is issuing a new Class 1 air quality approval to Produits Forestiers Arbec in Miramichi. The new approval will take effect Sept. 7.

The issuance of the approval follows a public consultation process which took place between Feb. 16 and June 26. When the facility re-opens in the fall of 2012, it will produce oriented strand board panels.

Documentation supporting the review included a facility profile, draft and intended approvals, and interim and final summaries. This information can be viewed at regional offices of the Department of Environment and Local Government or on the department’s website.

The Department of Environment and Local Government is responsible for administering the Clean Air Act through early planning, pollution prevention initiatives and the administration of approvals. Approvals may be amended by the department if necessary.
